Hardcore Addiction 3 2010 |
In a follow up to HA2 (below) here's the artwork for Hardcore Addiction 3. This time it features DJ Cotts and DJ Ravine with a bonus CD by DJ Silver. I'll post the 'story' behind the album art soon, it's quite topical. There's method behind the madness.
|
Artists include Orbit1, Inverse, Harry H, Impact, Nomad, Eufeion, S3RL, Milo, Fracas, SPIT, Darwin, Sc@r, Ultravibes and many more. http://www.happyhardcore.com/ha/

Hardcore Addiction 2 2009 |
Another
good excuse for some cd art, especially when the artists
include Orbit1, Al Storm, Darwin, Harry H to name just
a few. Hardcore Addiction 2 needed inner and outer cover
designs plus outer promo sleeve work.
Cotts&Ravine command a massive hit rate on YouTube
as well as the Australian Hardcore Show weekly on HappyHardcore.com
radio. Importing UK hardcore as well as encouraging
home grown and listener talent, along with worldwide
exclusives, the shows are interactive and very lively
with a legion of loyal fans. Like with the Ch00nage
covers the artwork had to match the show vibe. Being
into racing games the cover had a Wipeout type
feel. If you look at the outer cover the ships are inside
something very similar to the Large
Hadron Collider, of course.

Artwork for an auto magazine. The
Mercedes R Class (right) was out on the roads but heavily
disguised. Based on the overall shape and previous show
concepts I came up with the illustrations below to run

Spare Time - Robust MP3 Player
2007 |
I own a Sony Walkman, which I think is
great, however you need to keep it inside a protective pouch
to keep it safe from scratches and don't ever drop it!
With this music player it shys away from micro-size fit-in-your-pocket
design and becomes much more part of your life than a conventional
player. Throw it against a wall, the protruding rubber legs
cushion impact. Use the legs to wrap around backpacks and go
on a hike or use them to hold photographs on your desk at work.
Remember to use it for playing music too though. |

Spare Time - Audi TT &
Nissan 350Z 2007 |
You may have noticed I draw a lot of
cars so if I were to learn a modelling program what would I
choose to model?
The old shape Audi TT was the first attempt and from what I
learnt doing this I made the Nissan 350Z model. Everyone starts
with the TT!

CD Cover Artwork 2008 |
DJ Cotts is a happy hardcore
dj based in Canberra, Australia. The artwork for his mix series
'Hardcore Ch00nage' is great fun to do and is a break from
the other brand-bound work I'm involved with.
The music is high tempo and packed with energy and the artwork
has to match. I'm keeping to an 'anything goes' formula as
long as it's action packed with a few recurring themes throughout.
Ch00nage 11 has a Lamborghini Gallardo racing around on a
rollercoaster, that kind of the thing.
These are some of the covers from the series which is an ongoing
project. The new artwork will be available for free download
on DJ Cotts' official site with every new release.

Spare time |
I am interested in
character and environment design for films, games and
comics. I like the action conveyed in the storyboarding
as well as the final artwork. Below is an eclectic collection
of past scribblings all of which are a bit old now (2002)
but they're fun still so I've uploaded them. |

The Sculpture Room needed a logo and

Piggybax 2008 |
I designed the logo, letterheads, business
cards, website and promotional material for Piggybax. The identity
had to connote strength and resilience for the product, but
the clients were also looking for a character or emblem that
could be used on contractor's clothing/machinery to promote
the brand. The result is a mean, serious looking 'piggy' which
gave rise to quite a few fun clothing/advertising posibilities.

FP Tools needed a logo/identity revisit

Harris Sign Group also required a website design with text size
changing ability for greater accessibility. HSG offer so many
sign services it was important to convey this across to the

Degree Project 2002
|
Master of Design with honours in Transport
Design MDes 2002
My final year degree project investigated the optimisation of
the human senses within a vehicle. Inspired by a London architect’s
approach to building design, my four-passenger saloon concept
went beyond the conventional 'sight' orientated design, using
touch, sound and also smell in parallel to improve road journey
enjoyment and safety. PR company Weber Shandwick used my research
in a proposal to Halfords. Ford created a similar concept three
years later which did the same thing - even down to specifics
like with the scent vials. Using colour, temperature, form and
smell to counter and enhighten the passengers journey, the Ford
concepts were only three years later than my illustrations.
The concept used electronic ink back then - something we will
be seeing more of in years to come pretty much everywhere. E-Ink
has been in the press recently in 2007 too.
